Handsome Furs w/ special guests DRI & The Cinnamon Band

Husband-wife duo Handsome Furs brings new meaning to the phrase “move to the music.” Sure, Alexei Perry’s keyboard-constructed beats and Dan Boeckner’s distortion-heavy guitar riffs will give you plenty of reason to move your feet, but for the Montreal-based group, their music fuels their touring and their touring, their music. Their initial 2007 release, Plague Park, was inspired by the couple’s travels through Scandinavia, and their latest, Face Control, was born of travels through Eastern Europe and Russia.
The result will be on stage Wednesday night at Exit/In as the Handsome Furs finish out a string of North American dates before returning overseas. If you haven’t heard of Handsome Furs, YouTube and iTunes make it easy to get a taste of what you’ll miss. But better yet, don’t miss it. Songs like “I’m Confused” and “Radio Kaliningrad”—and bands like Handsome Furs, for that matter—will always taste best live.
And who knows—maybe their performance at a rock venue long in tradition (and a bit in tooth) will inspire a song on their next album.
They’ll do their part. You do yours.
